This a very high total for this game.  This is primarly because WSU beat Idaho 49-8 last year in Pullman.  I say odds are in favor of them coming under this total.  Idaho won’t score more than 7 so that leaves 54 points to the Cougers.  That is a lot points to score. 

I would also consider taking the WSU -27.  Idaho isn’t very good and WSU returns 9 starters on offense and 7 on defense.  I like the under more than anything.  Idaho doesn’t have much firepower to get in the endzone and disrupt the total.  That job will be up to WSU.

Got what I felt was an easy win last night with the Titans in NFL. Here
are the baseball games that jumped off the sheet at me tonight.

Tonights game features Montreal -10 in Ottawa.

I don’t like laying this many points on the road, but giving these
circumstances, how can I not.

Ottawa has lost the last 3 games, with the closest being by 12, to a weak
Hamilton team (and it was in Ottawa). On top of their bad play of recent,
one of their starting receivers, their big offseason signing from
Montreal, Pat Woodcock, was hit in the head with a football in practice
the other day, and he won’t play.

Montreal on the other hand have won 3 in a row, after getting embarrased
by BC. After looking average in their first 2 wins, Montreal went into
Winnipeg and won 29-13 in their last game, proving that they can lay big
points on the road.

Assuming huricane Frances doesn’t make it all the way up to Ottawa for
tonights game, take Montreal -10.

Take Padro at -140 the boys are flying pretty high just hope Jonny damon
lights it up tonight also taking Lee of the indians at -130 risk 500 to

as I have 10 units on them, but my reason has as much to do about the
Rockets having their backs to the wall as it is an anti Mavs play.

Think the Mavs are a little soft and lack the knock out punch of a
champion. Think they will fight, but in the end will lean on game 7 at
home.

Looking at this game my first thought was over.  I like the way the teams match up against each other.  Both teams have terrible secondaries and good QB rotations.  Tennesse brings McNair, Volek and Boyd.  San Fran counters with ASmith, Rattay and Dorsey. 

Tennessee put up over 400 yards passing last week against a stout Atlanta D, while San Fran took a much more conservative approach and handed the ball off 24 times and rushed for 130 yards agasint a pretty stout Denver D, but managed to put up 26 points.  My opinion is that Smith and Rattay will get a much closer look this week against Tennessees depleted defense.   I also do not see San Fran stopping Tennessee on the ground or in the air. 

Just some initial thoughts.  Will monitor line moves but it is sitting on 41 right now which is a very significant number.  I may play a half unit on it now and buy it down to 40.5, and see where it goes from here. 

Let me make this clear.  I am not stating that San Frans qb rotation is anywhere near solid, but going against Tennessees defense who was ravaged by salary cap casualties this past offseason, I think they will be able to move the ball pretty easily.  I especially like Rattay going against the Tenns 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Several reasons to like the Indiana Hoosiers -6 to -7 tonight versus Butler.  The game is played at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  Though, it is the home town for the Bulldogs, Indianapolis is an IU town.  I do not feel the venue will favor either squad. 

What will favor the Hoosiers?

1. Top returner D.J. White is back.  He played well vs. Charlotte (17 minutes) and is expected to play about twenty minutes tonight. 

2. IU not only has a significant height edge, but a tremendous advantage in stength and bulk as well.

 3.  IU has GREAT respect for Butler.  Guard Strickland commented that Indiana State played them hard every minute in the Hoosiers loss at Terre Haute.  He goes on to say the IU needs to exceed Butler in intensity tonight.

4.  Butler will have big problems stopping Killingsworth (6′8 270- 19.8ppg) with Polk 6′6 210Crone 6′6 225 inside.  Add to that the fact that the Hoosiers plan on using White and Killingsworth at the same time for some minutes tonght.  Not a good match-up for the ‘Dogs.

5.  Most importantly the Hoosiers need to win convincingly.  It took awhile and huge wins over rival Kentucky and Charlotte for the locals to forgive the often maligned IU cagers and coach after losing to Indiana State.  The Star ran a list of their top teams in Indiana CBB this year.  #1 ISU #2 IU due to the Sycamores undefeated start and heads up win over the Hoosiers.  IU will be very ready to prove that they are the class of basketball crazy Indiana this winter.

Line has moved down to -8.5 due to flu bug news.  I like it even more at 8.5.

Arizona State -10  Probably not going to be the most popular pick around, and I see the number has started to drop from opening around -11.5.  Sounds good to me as I see Arizona State taking advantage of home field and some jitters from Rutgers being in their first bowl game.  The one thing that strikes me about this play is the level of competition each team has played.  Rutgers has 7 wins this year and they are as follows:  Villanova-Buffalo-Pitt (in the midst of a bad slump)-Syracuse-UConn (who started their 3rd string QB)-Navy-Cincy.  In fact, the only decent passing team they played this season was Louisville, and they hung up 55 on them.  Brohm was able to pass for well over 300 yards and threw 3 TDs, in just over 3 quarters.  ASU is pretty bad against the pass, but when you consider they play in the PAC 10, the numbers can be a little deceiving. 

ASU had 5 losses this year, and lo and behold 4 of those 5 teams (USC, UCLA, LSU and Oregon) are playing in bowl games.  In fact, their other loss was against Stanford who really started coming into their own in the second half of the year.  Kinda hard to keep your passing stats down when your playing competition like that.  I also like the fact that ASU couldve beaten USC and should have beaten both UCLA and LSU.  I dont care that they lost, that is why they are in this bowl. 

When it comes down to intangibles, I see a couple of things.  First, ASU may be a little unmotivated in this game vs Rutgers who will be jacked.  This is sort of broken because I also think that same excitement will have Rutgers a little tight and possibly make early mistakes.  Second, ASU has more experience in games like these and Rudy Carpenter, a freshman, will be locked in a QB battle next year vs Junior Sam Keller, so I expect a big effort from Carpenter.  ASU also has the leading receiver in the Pac 10 with Hagans, a player I dont think Rutgers will have ANY answer for.  A couple of smaller things like the game is being played in Phoenix and ASU loves the sunny weather.  Finally, they have an excellent kick returner which could give them good field position all day.  Ill lay the 10 in this one and go against the line move….
