Ok, Ok, Ok—-it seems like only a short few made any money yesterday.  How does Detroit and New England get killed?  My week was so bad that I want you guts to pick the opposite of what I like:

This one I wasn’t too sure about, only because Buck offense can be
tentative.

South Carolina -3
A lot of people on Vandy but this is Lou Holtz and not many do a better
job of prepping their team. Vandy has a ton of starters back but does it
matter if they are all mediocre?

Kansas -4
More a bet against Tulsa. Kansas started to play last year and hopefully
can continue with early win.

Air Force +13
Too many points for a team at home that runs a rare offense. Cal is
everyone’s darling but this one will be close.

Colorado State +4.5
Buffs have their coach and talent but their will be a cloud over this
season, doesn’t help to play biggest rival the first game.

Oklahoma State +1
To me this line is a joke into making people think UCLA stays in this
one. Yes it in Cali and Bruin defense was tough last year but this Cowboy
team will show the Big 12 strength

Jets 34-28 victory back in Week 2 doesn’t tell how dominating they were in
this game. Their defense forced 4 fumbles (2 and 2) and gave QB Brees a
concussion with a late hit in the fourth quarter. The Jets pounded and
pounded the ball, controlling the clock for 37 minutes which equated into
good field position and easy scores. Only two of the six scoring drives
were more than 51 yards. Chargers scored late to make the game look more
close than it really was.

Now all that being said the Chargers have come a long way since then.
Comeback player of the year, coach of the year, tight end record for TD
receptions in a season. However, I see a physical game played out in the
rain and mud here. East Coast football. This is the one time that OC
Hackett’s conservative style might benefit the Jets.

LT gained 163 yards from scrimmage total in the first meeting. Let’s not
forget “Marty Ball” was just hand off to him and get out of the way until
Brees had his break out year. Antonio Gates will get his touches but the
speedy Jet linebackers will keep up with him. Both of these defenses stop
the run well, so it will be a grind all night. Curtis Martin will run and
run often, nothing changing here. Chad Pennington has definitely not
impressed anyone of late and has missed his receivers badly since coming
back from rotator cuff injury. So be it.

The Chargers were 7-1 at home this year. Jets handed them that lone loss.
Will it be in their minds? In a tight game?

Chargers were plus 15 in the turnover ratio this season and had one minus
game this year. The Jets are plus 17 and were that team who hung a minus 4
on SD in Week 2.

Chargers haven’t been to the playoffs in 10 years, can they really be
confindent with Marty, who has a history of sucking it up in the
postseason?

NY has 6 losses this season, they should have beat Baltimore and the Rams
and could have beaten the Bills. The loss at Pittsburgh was cemented in
the second half and the only team who have really handed the Jets their
hat this year is the Patriots.

Basically what I am saying is that the Jet offense is suspect but the
defense will be on fire. Even without Abraham the D will be very physical
and see just how ready this Charger unit is for prime time playoff
football.

Took OSU and Over second half. I’ve never seen two teams score this easy.

Chan Ho Park has struggled with control problems throughout his career.
This year started out no different. His last game out against the White
Sox he gave away 4 free passes. Park is looking for his 5th straight win
and his 100th of his career. If he keeps the walks to a minimum, he will
have a solid chance at getting the Win here.

Jose Lima is a contact pitcher that has a change up as his go to pitch. He
throws a fastball that tops out at 90 MPH. Lima gets very few strikeouts,
therefore most of his outs come in the form of groundouts or flyouts. He
has allowed a large number of homeruns this year. This is probably because
he is not a sinkerball type pitcher. When he gets the ball over the meat
of the plate, he easily gives up the long ball. He will not match up well
with the big bats of Texas.

The Royals win streak may come to an end today. The Rangers bats should
come out after taking the day off yesterday. If Chan Ho Park can keep his
control problems to a minimum he will have a very good chance at winning
this game. Look for the Rangers to score plenty of runs against the
homerun prone Lima.

It’s not very often that I take a team that has lost 5 in a row. Today is
the exception. Cabrera will be starting for Baltimore tonight, and he has
been nothing but exceptional in his last 4 starts. In those starts he’s
managed to go 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA. Going a little further back, Cabrera
has managed to hold opponents to 3 runs or less in 7 straight starts.
Benoit will be getting his second start for Texas after giving up 6 runs
over 5 innings vs the Yankees in his last start on Wednesday. Benoit gave
up 4 home runs in that contest. Benoit has pitched well out of the
Bullpen, but may run into trouble after going through the line-up a couple
of times.
Baltimore is expected to activate Javy Lopez for tonights contest. This
will be a lift to a team that went 3-7 in its last 10 contests, all of
which were on the road. Look for Baltimore to put enough runs on the board
to get Cabrera the victory, and welcome Lopez back in a big way.

Just feel that oddsmakers have not adjusted the line enough for the TMac factor. MacGrady is much more than just a 4-5 pt adjustment on the line, and he is even greater on the totals.

TMac is everything to the Rockets. With him, they’re 2-0 SU & ATS. Without him, they’re 0-3 SU. Dawson & JVG built this entire team around TMac & Yao. If either of these players are missing, Houston will have a big problem scoring. However, if both are playing, the complementary players become an important part of the game.

IMO, David Wesley & Derek Anderson are hopeless w/o TMac in the lineup. However, with TMac playing yesterday, Wesley had his best game TY, finishing with 15 (3 of 6 from treyland).

Tonight, they face off against a Boston team that historically have been pretty bad on defense, and this year have allowed 98 ppg over 5 games. With Houston coming off BTB, Cs may choose to push the pace early.

This total is off by about 8 1/2 pts. Should be around 192 1/2. Much value here.
