I have to tell you all, this game scares the crap out of me because it seems too easy. For the first and possibly ONLY time this season, Florida State has the better QB in a game. While Drew Weatherford may become another quality quarterback at FSU, he was thrust in a role that he was unprepared for when Wyatt Sexton was lost for the season, leaving FSU with two RS freshmen QB’s. He looked much better last week against BC and brought the ‘Noles back for the win.

The FSU defense is what gives this team it’s strength, allowing only 11 ppg (8th in NCAA) and 261 ypg (13th). This is why I can’t look at a Syracuse team that is trying to work another “West Coast Offense” switch into the program, with personnel that is all wrong for the system and holdovers from the previous staff and recruiters. Syracuse has been miserable offensively so far, even more so when you know that they have had home field for all games so far (Carrier Dome) which was one of the strongest home fields in years past. They hit the road for the first time, out of the indoor climate and travel to Tallahassee.

Syracuse can’t throw the football and they have shown NO abilty to run it either, being on the short end of the scale against West Virginia and Virginia to the tune of 443 rushing yards to 98 with only 23 first downs and 355 yards offense COMBINED. They were actually +6 in takeaways and STILL could not get it done at home. Even the 31-0 win over Buffalo was misleading as most scores came off short drives from turnovers. This is BUFFALO, for Christ’s sake! Syracuse is a bad traveler as well, with a current run of 9-21 ats as a road dog. Granted, that was under the regime of Paul Pasqualoni, but it shows that the team does not transfer well from indoor home turf to hostile outdoor road grass. FSU has superior athletes at most every position and supreme speed. FSU won’t take this one lightly after the near-loss in Syracuse last year, pulling out a 17-13 win laying 18. That game set up perfectly for Syracuse, as FSU came in expressing concern about the horrible artificial turf in the Carrier Dome and had several players already on the injury list. Wyatt Sexton was getting his first road start and the ‘Noles may have been looking ahead to a huge conference game the following week against Virginia, who was ranked higher than them at the time.

Why should we lay 20 this time out, you ask? If you look at last year and figure 3 points for home field, we are actually paying a shorter price to face a dome team on it’s first road trip, trying to implement a whole new offense and coaching staff and playing what appears to be a better version of FSU, plus a dominant and very loud home field. The FSU defense is likely to get a score of their own off pressure and the ‘Cuse will be hard pressed to move the ball on this Seminole D. Drew Weatherford played well enough to not lose the game vs. Miami and well enough to win the game at BC. Now he gets a chance to spread it out a bit and take another step forward. Wait till the “Tomahawk Chop” routine starts up! After a week off to prep for this game, it will be all FSU, all the time. I hope it IS as easy as it looks right now…

Hello all you tasty tits. Just a chuggin’long here. Had a good time at
the amusement park yezzaday. I actually pee’d in the water slide so I
felt kinda bad. I am actually on a semi-vacation these last cupla weeks
as I am in and out of work taking ‘mini vacs’ and today I am heading to VA

Tonight we have a number of great games and quite a few potential Locks to
choose from:
First and best is Gonzaga over Wash St -7 – this is a true Gift as Gonz is
5-1 with Ill their only loss and they just beat Wash. who had beaten
Alab., Okla., and Utah so Gonzaga is still one of the top 3 teams on the
West Coast as they are every year and Wash St. is just an awful team who
can’t score a lick. A true Lock!!!
Second is Okla St. over Syra. +2 – this is a close game and yes Syra can
win it and it won’t be a shocker but I love Ok St and remember how they
beat Memphis by 17 and then Pitts by 12 and St. Joe’s (#1 seed) by 2 and
lost that heartbreaker to the champ GT by 2 in last year NCAA’s. They
play awesome BB at Ok St. and certainly will give Syra all they want for a
game. I also love Syra most of the time this year but in a big game
against another top opponent they just seem to always come up empty. They
aren’t well coached I guess as they just never get to the top. Last year
Pitts finished with a better Conf Record and Syra had the best team and
this year they have the best athletes of any team around but will not go
all the way once agains IMHO.
Third I like Nevada +6 over Toledo. They are 4 and 1 and Tol is 0-3 and
Nevada has the better team IMHO.
I also like TT and Iowa and Kent St but 3’s enough and I will pass on
these others as Pitts, Nev. and Gonz. are super picks IMHO.

I don’t really have any data but it appears that we are going to see more NBA Scoring this year than was anticipated. There was a lot of talk about the new ball and how most players did not like it, but they do not seem to be having any problems putting it in the hoop. Oddsmakers are scrambling to figure out where to set lines and we are seeing huge spread differences and large line moves on totals following the opening. That is one reason to get on the NBA Totals as soon as they come out and watch line movements very carefully until the line experts become line experts again. It does create many very good early opps. Today is a perfect example with 6 games at or over the 200 mark. I remember the days when only the Suns, Sonics, Sixers, and Wizards had spreads this high. Now it is commonplace. I think they do like the new ball afterall…….But they will never admit it…
