I was leaning to Braves a bit before I came across the “Day” pitching
stats of both pitchers…note that Clemens allowed less earned runs (19
earned runs in 67.2 inn of day pitching) than Wright ( 23 earned runs in
29.2 innings)

Chipper Jones is questionable today having hurt his right hand in
Saturdays game, so if he plays he may be hurting a bit.

May 11, 2005 — LAS VEGAS ? New York State Athletic Commission chairman
Ron Scott Stevens is plotting his options in the wake of a possible dirty
urine test by WBA heavyweight champion James “Lights Out” Toney.

The normally talkative Stevens has said little since a firestorm of rumors
began circling that Toney tested positive for steroids and perhaps
marijuana following his April 30 bout with John Ruiz. Toney won a
unanimous decision in the 12-round fight held at the Garden.

Under WBA rules, Toney could be stripped of his title if the positive test
sticks. It’s unclear whether the title would become vacant or returned to
Ruiz, who interestingly announced his unretirement on Monday. Toney’s
clash with Ruiz was only his second fight over the last 17 months. Since
then, he ruptured an Achilles’ tendon and suffered a torn bicep.

Stevens is said to be evaluating what penalties he can enforce as well as
offer Toney due process. Toney is tentatively scheduled to fight IBF champ
Chris Byrd in a unification bout on July 23 at the Garden. But those plans
could be on hold.

As of early last year, the New York State Athletic Commission, which began
testing for steroids in the fall of 2002, has not encountered a positive
test though the subject has been discussed during seminars organized by
the NYSAC for promoters and matchmakers.

Under NYSAC rules, a first positive test will result in a 45-day
suspension; a second positive test is a 90-day suspension; while a third
positive test results in mandatory revocation of their boxing license.
