Early Game Play 08/11

8-7 overall yesterday ::: 38-35 -3 overall since last week.

Oakland-1.5 (+136) (Ledezma vs Redman) Ledezma has 3 pitched games against
Oakland. He is 0-2 with 6.2 innings pitched in those 3 games,with a 9.45
ERA and a 2.40 WHIP.
Redman has a 3 game career ERA vs Det of 2.70.In Redman’s last three
games he has limmited the opposition to 1,1, & 3 runs. I am looking for
more of the same here with Oakland being able to score more and pull away
for a greater than 1 run victory.
For the faint of heart .play Oakland -153. I may play both ,to hedge but
don’t think I’ll need it. Good luck on your plays. Jackson

Check what my local sent me about MLB bets

all them nickle lines im gonna round up. ex: a team is -135 im gonna
make them -140. that will go in the run lines to. openers – 10 as
usual. any pitching change after bet will scratch. u will have to bet
it again. a pitching change will scratch all openers. on totals some
have leans. if it says 8.5u then the under is -120 over even. 20
spread in 100s 30 in 200s 40 in 300s 50 in 400s. all i can think of
right now.
===================================
WTF,
rounding up on spreads, making totals -120, and 20 cent lines under -200?
Am I getting screwed here? Looks like Pinnacle has 10 cent lines. Why
aren’t totals just -110 across the board? Fill me in please on why he is
doing this. Thx,

Temple: 7 players (5 starters) ineligible

Courtesy Philly.com

Owls lose 7 players to academic problems

Inquirer Staff Writer

Just three days before its opener, coach Bobby Wallace’s Temple football team took a serious hit yesterday when five starters were declared academically ineligible for the season by the university.

Two other players also were declared ineligible.

When the Owls play Thursday at 18th-ranked Arizona State, they will be without first-stringers in senior running back Tim Brown, senior strong safety Bobby Fulmore, senior wide receiver Mike Holley, junior guard Sam McNaulty, and junior cornerback David Reese. Also missing will be backup defensive ends David Fatherly, a junior, and J.C. Braker, a senior.

“It’s very difficult at this time to find this information out,” Wallace said yesterday before the Owls practiced. The academic problems “are not all the exact same thing. It’s different circumstances for each one, but I’m not at liberty to comment on it. We’ll just have to move forward.”

Wallace broke the news to the rest of the team at a meeting before Sunday’s workout.

That day’s practice “was not very good,” Wallace said. “It was a very quiet and very solemn practice. They were very disappointed for their teammates.”

The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Brown, a returning starter who rushed for 432 yards last season, was being depended on to help carry the rushing load.

Fulmore played in all 11 games last season, Reese in seven.

Holley sat out last season because of academic difficulties, and McNaulty sat it out as a redshirt. Braker and Fatherly also did not play in any games.

“I’ve never faced this situation before,” said Wallace, who was the head coach at Division II North Alabama for 10 years before taking over at Temple. “It came as a surprise over the last 10 days to two weeks.”

With Brown gone, senior Umar Ferguson, who gained 439 yards rushing last season, has moved from fullback to tailback. Sophomore Mike Neal has taken over Ferguson’s old spot.

Senior Stan Primus, who played in nine games last season, is the new left guard, replacing McNaulty. Junior Bruce Gordon, a transfer from Purdue in 2004, has stepped into Holley’s job at wide receiver. Junior cornerback Chris Page and senior strong safety Andrew Smith also have moved up to the first team.

“The only position change we made was moving [backup] Dwavon Battle from defensive line to offensive line because we’re really thin in the offensive line losing [McNaulty],” Wallace said. “Everywhere else, we just moved people up and are asking them to step up and do the job.

“In some situations, we’re going to be leaning heavily on some freshmen [for depth], and that’s not a very good situation to be in.”

As if the disruption to his team was not enough, Wallace was also concerned about Hurricane Katrina. He owns a beach house in Gulf Shores, Ala., about 40 miles west of Mobile. His parents, who were staying at the house, fled to Jackson, Miss., where his sister lives.

“The house is across the Mobile Bay, which is what you’re seeing on the Weather Channel right now, where all the water is coming in,” said Wallace, who was having the house restored after another storm left extensive damage.

“When I was home in July, the last thing I did was board up the house because another hurricane was coming in. My parents evacuated then, too. That hurricane went east of us. Being on the west side of a hurricane is a whole lot better than being on the east side.”

Yesterday, storm clouds were all around Wallace, who did not know the condition of his property.

“It’s not a good day,” he said.

MLB Plays for 6-19-06

Well what can I say about Miami yesterday. I don’t know how many times I thought they were going to lose out right only see Wade become a legend in front of my eyes and win the game for them. It is really unbelievable how obvious it is none of the other players on the Miami court want to shot during these games. Sure you should feed the ball to the stud when he is hot like this, but watching other members of the team shoot is laughable. Yes Payton made one or two good shots last night, but I am speaking more towards the whole series here.

Some pretty weird calls we made (and could have been made, Wade over and back) and it could have easily gone the other way, but once again Dallas covered (+2) for most and Miami backers were left with just another loss. I have backed Miami every game in this series except the first so you can tell I am little sour about a team being up 3-2 in the finals that has only covered once! it is very rare when teams win that many and don’t cover. One thing in betting over many years I have learned is if you can pick the wining team, over the long haul that team will usually cover as well.

I can already tell you tomorrow I am hammering Dallas hard.

Back to MLB. Some decent plays here and I am making a great comeback after starting the season so terrible. overall record is 27-30-1 and I am 9-2-1 in the last three days.

NY Mets -125
NY Mets Over 9
Boston -130
Mill +105

Good luck.

Thur NCAA

NCAA Season 28-20-1

After tightening up my picks after Week 2, my record is 11-4.

Nice win last night, UCF +3, and moneyline.

Tonight’s pick:

TCU +3 Line is now down to +2 at Pinny. I like TCU to win outright. Another road dog, I know…..but just like last night I’m going to take the points, the better program, and the better coach. Better QB is debatable here…although Ratliff has been against the REAL teams Utah has played – UCLA and Boise. 18-52 192 yards 1 td 4 INTs. Bright spot for Utes – ZERO sacks allowed.

Utah struggled in those 2 games and it’s wins come against some real cupcakes – 2 winless 1-A teams and a 1-AA team.

The real red flag for me is their usually tough defense gave up 204 yards rushing to SD State. But 5 INTs sank the Aztecs.

TCU will run the football tonight and look to steal one a conference game on the road. TCU is coming off a conference loss and they are desperate tonight because an 0-2 conference start would ruin their season.

Utah is playing the preason MWC favorite on a short wee.

I like the Horned Frogs +3 and I think they’ll win outright.

TCU got down early against BYU and was forced to throw 49 times….very uncharacteristic.

This week they’ll get to a strong start and be able to stay with the ground game.

Peace.
