Today?s Action from Hollywood Park: I am going to highlight and play races 3, 4, 5, and 8.. In addition, I am putting together $20 into a Pick 3 (Races

3-5)

Race 3: Allowance NW1, 1-1/16 Miles, Fillies and mares, Three-year olds and upward SWEET DEE?S (#3, 9-5) returns to the Hollywood Park main track where she broke her maiden as a two-year old at 18-1. Since then she has yet to visit the winner circle but is slowly coming into form since the blinkers were added on September 29 and she stretches out to two turns on the main track for the first time after two good sprint races under her belt. After racing erratically and lugging out forcing other horses wide into the first turn when she finished ninth and last on August 13 at Del Mar versus a “key” race field, she returned six weeks later with the addition of blinkers and ran an even third to split the six-horse field. In that race, she chased the dueling leaders early and ran on evenly to get up for third finishing behind of Tempting Date who returned to win her next two starts including the California Cup Distaff in her last start. She returned three weeks later and stretches out an addition furlong to seven-eighths of a mile and ran a much better than looked third beaten seven-lengths as the 9-5 post time favorite behind the garden trip winner. The early speed she displayed in her maiden win was found again as she established a rail pressured pace with two pace

rivals: Loni?a Appeal and All Aglow. Those three horses opened up two and half lengths on the rest of the field through fractions of 22.32 and 44.80-seconds. She won the battle for the early lead as her two pace rivals weakened to finish fifth and seventh, but lost the war as the garden trip winner, Nossa Cancao, rallied from fourth to win and lost second to a deep closer. Though beaten seven-lengths and earning a mediocre speed figure, the strength of that race was validated as the winner returned to win an Allowance NW2 on November 11 here at Hollywood Park. She should be set to move forward in her third start in her form cycle and after winning the battle for the early lead and losing the war, she projects to lead early and that style is preferred over this main track as 5 of the last 17 races at this distance were won gate to wire after the first half-mile. Trainer Patty Gallagher has won 6 of his last 33 starts (18%) stretching horses out from sprint-to-route and Jose Valdivia Jr. who was aboard Distorted ($6.80) for this same barn is in the irons as he attempt to make every pole a winning one.

Main Exacta: 3-1. Small reverse

Race 4: Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs, Three-year olds SUREFIRE SUCCESS (#5, 6-1) returns off a layoff of more than a nine and half month layoff and judging from his first two starts one would consider him an automatic throw out. In his debut, he showed brief early speed to chase the early the early three-horse battle and weakened badly to finish eleventh and last beaten 12-ј lengths in a “key” race that saw the seventh-and-tenth place finishers returned to win. He returned on opening day of the Santa Anita meeting on December 26 and found himself racing along the inside chasing the gate the wire Going Wild throughout, angled out into the stretch, and beat more than half the field splitting the field in a exceptionally strong maiden field that saw the first, second, and fourth-place finishers (Going Wild, Only in Reno, and Storm Wolf) all returned to win making it a “key” race. He has been on the sidelines since, but has likely grown and matured since and shows up with a healthy work pattern including a 7F work on November 3 where he had plenty left in the tank. With 9 of the last

16 races at this distance being won by horses leading at the pace call, Surefire Success can out sprint his rivals early and run his rivals into the ground with Corey Nakatini in the irons at a sweet price.

Play the (5) SUREFIRE SUCCESS to WIN

Main Exactas: 5-3, 5-4, and 5-6. Small reverse for each

Race 5: Claiming $25,000 to $22,500, 6 Furlongs, Three-year olds MIGHTY WILL (#1, 7-2) makes his first start for Don Warren stable who in the past five years is 0-for-14 with his starters making their first start off the claim. This type of information would lead many to throw him of consideration, but watching his last three starts on the main track compensate for his trainer?s inability to win with his starters off the claim plus it is a positive sign to see this Mighty gelding moving up three levels in class indicating this gelding is doing very well for his new connections. In his maiden win on August 7, he flashed that early speed to duel with next-time out winner Gas In Turbo through the program?s fastest quarter and co-fastest half-mile fractions on the card (21.76 and 44.26), he left that rival in his wake, and widen leaving his field well strung out, sign of a quality victory earning a Beyer Speed Figure that is well above par for this level (Beyer par 83). He shipped to Pomona to face Starter Allowance rivals and was much the best to lose by a half-length in a race that earned a speed figure that is par for this class level. Whatever chance had to show his early speed was gone when he was squeezed and pinched between horses at the break to be away dead last. He rushed up to contest the early pace down the backstretch, opened up a clear lead, and was nailed by the opportunistic closer on the wire in a better than looked effort. He was chewed up in a battle for the early lead on October 8, but that was down the hillside turf course in a race that one can draw a line through. He returned to the main track and dropped to the bottom for three-year old only claimers when he ran for $12,500 on October 30 and ran much better than his speed figure or his one-length margin of victory would indicate. He was sent between horses to duel on a four-horse battle for the early lead. He dueled all three of his pace rivals into defeat who tired badly to finish eighth, ninth, and tenth, was headed by the opportunistic stalker Cephus Star, but battled back, and won edging away. Though he breaks from the rail, 4 of the last 16 races at this distance were won from that post and remains at a distance he adores. Should flee from the rail running and prove tough customer to deny in the lane.

Race 8: Maiden Claiming $50,000, 6 Furlongs, Three-year olds and upward SENATOR MATTY (#9, 9-2) makes his first start for the lethal Bob Bone and Jeff Mullins combination and this trainer-owner tandem had a big day last Wednesday here at Hollywood Park. From the four starters that owner Robert Bone won with, three were trained by Jeff Mullins: Complicit Swiss ($3.40), Ultimate Summer ($2.80), and Notnerasgoodashers ($11.20). Those two figure to continue on their hot streak with this Matty G gelding who is making his first start off the claim for Mullins who has won an amazing 35 of his last

96 starters off the claim for an impressive 36% clip. He did not show anything in his career debut last year at Santa Anita, but that was over a sloppy main track that he likely did not handle. Most likely he was hurt after that race as he went sent to the sidelines for more than six months.

He returned for the John Sadler barn on September 30 and received logical drop in class from restricted maiden special weight into restricted maiden claimer for the first time and finished third beaten four-lengths. However, on closer inspection that race was not as bad as the margin of defeat would indicate. He found himself uncontested chasing his former stable mate, Smoke Dreams, in second through the fastest opening quarter on the program (21.16). He continued to chase that blistering pace around the turn, made his move entering the stretch to grab a slim lead past the eighth pole, but the signs of chasing such a fast pace and the layoff were evident as he tired in the final furlong in a race that set up for a closer as the first-and-second place finishers rallied from eighth and ninths while the leader, Smoke Dreams, tired to finish sixth. This was a big effort off the layoff and flattered when the winner returned to run second for $40,000 in his next start versus winners and the fifth-place finisher, Time to Honor, went on to win his next start and then won the California Cup Starter Handicap on November 6. He has enough speed to lead, press, or stalk and looks to be tougher with a race under his belt and excellent draw with Martin Pedroza back aboard as our most probable winner on the card.

2 national tragedies in  years. please remember all those killed 4 yrs ago today in nyc. my crew is getting tired. working 17 hrs a  day. getting older  more faster. we have moved again to just 3 miles north of I-10 from gulfport. we have 2 more weeks left to help out, as we have been asked to stay on and help with moving cooking tents closer to the gulf as some construction crews come. lights are on in some areas on the gulf here. very eerie feeling,

decently in some situations and terrible in others. He did pitch well

Hudson has struggled all year, getting into the 6th inning only twice in 9
starts. I will take my chances with Moehler.

Went 5-1 last week and 2-0 sunday night and 2-0 monday night. 

Went about 50-50 on college football yesterday.  Like I said you got to ride the train not jump on and off to make $ off my picks.  I still belive theres NOBODY on this board who can pick halfs better than me.  If there is STEP UP and post the picks so the members can make some$$.  Also, I always love a competition.  I would say that my record is probably 80% wins, which will SMOKE any service and the FedEX checks keep coming.
