cover on a miracle … Bennie’s big play on Buffalo cashes despite the
Bills being grossly out-played. A 65-yard completion on 4th-and-18 to keep

LA (PENNY) -107 over Cin (Wilson) – 1 UNIT – 4:10pm Pacific
So far, so good for Penny’s return from injury. He’s faced Colorado
twice, so that takes away some of his luster, but he should be solid the
rest of the season. At the minimum, I feel he can match Wilson inning for
inning, and after that, the definite edge goes to the L.A. bullpen.
Cincinnati’s only good arm in the pen appears to be Wagner, while the
Dodgers are in good shape from top to bottom. Wilson hasn’t been very
effective with his pitch counts thus far and the Dodgers try to take the
patient approach at the plate, so hopefully the Dodgers can get an early
look at the pen. Penny still figures to be building stamina, so we’ll
probably see the Dodger pen early.

BOS (CLEMENT) -151 over Sea (Moyer) – 1 UNIT – 4:05pm Pacific
Moyer has done a pretty good job of limiting the long ball thus far, but
he hasn’t faced a true test away from pitcher friendly Safeco yet. Boston
hasn’t been hitting lefties weel yet, but they tore them up last year, and
they’re definitely capable. Some of their hitters have also had some very
good history against Moyer. I don’t think the Boston offense should have
too much of a problem against Moyer in this one.

OAK (ZITO) +153 over NYY (Pavano) – 1 UNIT – 4:05pm Pacific
The Yanks are really struggling right now, and Pavano isn’t the type of
shut down pitcher that can put the stops to it. Zito has been
surprisingly effective, which may be attributable to a new pitch he’s
added to his repertiore. I think the number is too big here, and I’ll
take the value.

BC (BAUTISTA) +183 over Bal (Ponson) – 1 UNIT – 4:35pm Pacific
Bautista has some great stuff, but he does have control problems. He does
not give up HRs, which is obviously good, especially against a team like
Baltimore. Ponson’s walk rate has not been good, and some of KC’s hitters
have had success against him, albeit in some very limited action. It’s
hard betting on the KC offense, but I’m willing to take this high number
and hope that Bautista can harness his stuff in this one so that KC won’t
need a whole lot of runs.

OVER 10.5 CLE (LEE)/TEX (ASTACIO) -112 – 1 UNIT – 5:05pm Pacific
Lee was looking impressive early on, but his historic fight against the
flyball and HR is starting to show again. Even though he shut out Seattle
through 7 IP two starts ago, he allowed 11 flyballs of the 15 balls he
allowed in play. He can get away with that in Safeco, but not in
Arlington where the HR rate for LHB and RHB are increased by 24%. In his
last start against KC, he gave up a couple HRs, so it’s possible Texas can
tee off on him. Astacio was also showing some promise, as he was a
groundball machine to start the season. However, he has a history of
gopheritis, so I’m not buying it. I’m hoping that both starters will
revert to their career trends in this one.

Split yesterday. Got crushed on the total at Wrigley and won a close won
last night at Shea with the Braves and Smoltz. 11-5-3 last 18 days.

Today I am wading in the murky waters of the cellar dwellars by making a
play in the COL/CIN game. COL is 0-7 on the road as a dog and 7-34
overall. COL averages only 3.0 rpg on the road. Finally, their starter
today, Francis, has a 6.34 era on the road.

CIN is 4-1 at home as a fav between -125 and -150. They hit much better
at home, averaging 5.6 rpg. Finally, Milton, the CIN starter, has pitched
very well his last three starts, averaging only 3.32 rpg in those games.
Furthermore, in those starts, he is averaging 6.3 innings.

Milton should have a quality start and and the Reds should get some hits
against Francis to win their second game in as many against the lowly
Rockies.

You will never see a team so talented that plays so bad ever again. I am not kidding when I tell you that Tennessee is as talented as any team in the country, except USC. They are just terribly coached. It’s not hard to figure out, Phil. You run, run, run and punt. You wait for THEIR offense to make a mistake, then pounce. It’s never going to happen, though, when you’re passing from inside your own 20 with inexperienced QBs on the road.

Denver -2 1/2  I have KC to win the Superbowl, but I do not like them here.  The Broncos match up very well in the secondary, at linebacker and Willie Roaf is nursing a very sore hamstring and probably will not play on every down.  That is bad new for KC because he is the anchor of the Chiefs offense and who Priest Holmes finds gaping holes behing.  When Joe Horn ran him out of NO by banging his wife it was the wrong decision for the Saints.  Could you imagine Deuce running behind Roaf?  Anyway, Bailey in the secondary can shut down anyone and Ian Gold and crew at LB have plenty of speed to cover Gonzales.  Just my opinion.

If I come across as a braggert as dickie says, then I assume others may agree with him.  If thats the case then YES I sincerely aplogize as I am not a kid and think of myself as a respectable mature person.  Allthough, I believe this board and its members should be congratulated on any pick that helps somoeone else.  As for me to celebrate my 2-0 start today on these totals and then be told to keep my emotions in check as many have lost on my picks during my cold streak is really frustrating.
