I have 10 minutes before I head into my manager’s office to get chewed out
for coming to work drunk this morning so I figure I chime in on a comment
since I have been mostly MIA this entire year during the daytime.

In EVERY game in EVERY sport on ANY day or ANY night, you will have a
winner that covers the spread. All the handicapping, analysis, inside
info, unforeseen angles, statitistics, intangibles won’t give you any more
of an edge on who is going to win(cover). I firmly believe that there are
EQUAL valid reasons for boths sides(or totals) of any game regardless of
sport.

For example, take tonite’s Lobos/Cougars game. If I wanted to do a 23
page nobel prize winning writeup on why I think the Lobos will cover the
+3, I could. On the flipside if I wanted to do a 23 page writeup on why
the Cougars will cover the -3, I could also. The point is no play is ever
“obvious” in seeing the winning pick. Sure there are many games that we
look at and in a blink of an eye we see the line and know instinctly that
such and such team will cover that line cus it’s so ‘obvious’. So you may
be able to pick a play in less than 1 second. And guess what? Many times
they win. But it ain’t attibuted to it being the obvious pick. If Vegas
didn’t post lines but just gave you a choice or win-loss with NO juice or
spread, then there will be an obvious pick.

My point is, there are NO “obvious” picks in any game cus if there were,
we’d all be rich as a mo’fo’ and Guido will go under. Remember, what is
“obvious” to you may be obscure to someone else.

I am sharing this thought/opinion because I see alot of people get upset
when they follow a pick and it loses, then they come back and share their
disappointment in trying to understand the pick in the first place. Well,
2 things I can say about that: 1) If the pick won, then all is happy, and
2) if the pick lost then we question how in the world that pick was ever
even considered. A famous midget once said “It’s easy AFTER the fact”.

So I leave you with this: I am quite sure that every person who posts a
play on here has valid reasons for why they think it will win, regardless
if they post the play or post it with 67 pages or writeups. For every
reason you think the pick is awful, there is an equal reason that can be
stated of why the pick is good.

I do not do many writeups. I did when I first started posting on here,
but that was cus I had a ton of time during the day. In a way, sometimes
writeups are bad, in the sense that they are an “advertisement” to pick
that play which “persuades” someone to play the pick when they may not
have if NOT for the writeup. Look at it this way- if I see Mr. X post a
play for pick Y, I will just take it that Mr. X’s opinion is that he likes
pick Y and I will look at the game again and maybe play it depending on
Mr. X’s reputation. But if Mr. X posts pick Y with a lovely long writeup,
then I am more inclined to play that pick BLINDLY cus “wow… it seems
like there are tons of reasons why it will win. I’m in!”

So my point is simple. You should view a pick the same regardless if it
is without a writeup or with one cus in the latter, it can become
dangerous cus to many novice gamblers, a writeup can be a sort of “false”
advertising because as my prior opinion is that it is more persuading.
Get this clear: I LIKE WRITEUPS. I think they are beneficial and helpful
for EVERYONE, but don’t fall prey to the way the words are strung together
and how “nice and elegant” it sounds cus in the end, if it loses, it is no
different than any other pick that loses. Also, how many times do you
read a great writeup on a pick and the pick wins, but it wins because of
reasons that is FAR OFF than those stated in the writeup? Sometimes win
just by being lucky. Rememeber a pick posted is only an opinion by THAT
ONE person. That opinion should not be “enhanced” by a writeup.

I will close with this. Every game, there are equal reasons that can be
stated for both sides, so find your own angle or own conglomeration of
reasons but be aware that there are no “obvious” pick. And I encourage
writeups if you have the time, but in the end, all that matters is if the
play wins or loses. Give me a pick with no writeup that wins and I will
take that any day than one that loses regardless if the analysis was a
pulitzer price winner. Also, it makes you look dumb as hell if you post a
longass writeup and the pick loses than if you just simply posted the pick.

Before naybody comments, this is only my opinion. I do encourage
wrietups. All I am saying is that you should not bash someone for not
doing them.

Rough day with the College football as we went 4-10 overall. Baseball
plays went 2-1 so we lost a total of $600.00 for the day. (We play $100
per game)
Today in College Football we are taking Syracuse +12 1/2, Kentucky +10,
Rice +4 1/2, Washington -1, and Tennessee -18.
In the bases we played Texas Rangers +210, Dodgers, +140, Giants, -130,
Angels -135 and a two team parlay with the Braves -183 and the Yankees
-210.

I keep hearing alot of people say Eagles will win blah .blah, blah, just
look at the 2 divisions both these teams are in. The Eagles have
steamrolled their way to the # 1 seed in the AFC 4 years in a row by
playing their sorry cupcake division they call the NFC east, while New
England plays in one of the best divisions in the NFL. Philly played a
dome team Minnesota with a banged up Randy Moss, and another Dome team in
Atlanta that couldn’t throw for 175 yards a game this year. While New
England pounded the leagues best offense in INDY, and then pounded the #1
defense in Pittsburgh in their house. New England played the best while
Philly played the jv team all year. New England every weak plays quality
oponents and win . New England won the superbowl 2 times with Antoine
Smith as their runningback AND now they have Corey Dillon, this is a no
brainer New England wins. New England will expose Phillys linebackers as
the jokes they are look for Patrick Pass for 3 catches out of the
backfield on playaction one for a TD.

24-20 is my SB prediction and the only thing that keeps this close is the
Philly D.

It seems like every single game, they are 0, 1, 2, or 3 points behind
Pinnacle in juice, no matter what. They NEVER have a better line than
Pinny unless you catch them in the 15 seconds between when they change the
line and Pinny changes it. Their line usually does move first, but
Pinnacle is always right behind them with a better line. Just a for
instance on today’s games:

I think the linemakers just woke up out of a coma. Where are they getting
these lines? Cleveland is resurrected. Cleveland’s offensive lines and
running backs (all 3 teams) are going to be the team to beat in the AFC
North. Carolina is the real deal playing to win every game with a second
and third string that took over for the first stringers last season and
almost make the playoffs. I would have made Carolina at least -3 away
favorites. Detroit should be a -1 home favorite.

What do you think?  Mind you, I forgot to tell you something earlier.  We get money for top 4 in playoffs also.  Playoffs start when the real thing starts, so anyone on your roster that gets points, counts as cumulitive through the Super Bowl.  Not as much payout as regular season, but it still pays out.  Must start 5 WR’s or RB’s, can’t do 5/0 or 4/1, must be a combo of 2/3.

WOw.  Just got back computer access via dial up.  Everything is going well down here in Biloxi, all things considered.  Got power back, water, just no damn cable or high speed.  Be back later tonight with a couple of plays, one will be a big one for Saturday.  Started out college with a 2-0 Saturday, Arizona covering the 7 and UTEP blowing out NM to bag 5 units.  Cant find my last NFL preseason post, but I konw Cincy won big….

Been cold the last couple of days, since Sunday.  Tread lightly, but I must say I absolutely love some games this weekend in NCAA.  I struggled a bit last week to find games and went 3-1 so I hope this is a good indicator of a strong weekend.

Stanford  +7 1/2  (buy)  2 units  I love this one.  Oregon coming off a big loss vs USC and a game they should have lost against Fresno, both home games.  Now they travel away from the friendly confines of Azutem or whatever its called.  Stanford at home +7.  Ill take it for two units.

Purdue -3  1 unit  An unranked favorite against a ranked opponent going on the road.  Purdue ran into a tough game last week against Minnesota and their defense wore down from the Minny running attack.  That Minny O Line is dominate.  Purdue was my only loser last Saturday and a tough way to lose, plus points in overtime.  The Irish coming off a blow out against Washington.  I see Purdue having no trouble moving the ball against the Irish. 

Arizona +17  1 unit for now but will probably get upgraded.  The Wildcats are 2-0 ATS and get an overanked Cal team looking ahead to a big matchup with 20th ranked UCLA.  I will continue to ride the Arizona wagon until they show me different, I dont think they lose to anyone by 17.
