NHL Hockey Play for Friday

A nice winner on the Lightning/Caps Over last play and a full slate of NHL tonight. Here is one that we will be risking our money on…..

Posted NHL Record 13-9 (+3.71 Units)

NHL: Montreal Canadians at Buffalo Sabres – Sabres -110
Game Date: 11/25/2005
Note: The Canadians are not playing the kind of hockey that they have become accustomed to lately and have lost their last 4 of 6 games. The only 2 wins in that stretch, a shootout win at home last time out and an overtime win at home. In that stretch they have seen the opponents outscore them by more than one goal. That opposition has not been some of the stellar teams in the NHL and in fact the overall record of those teams are below the .500 mark. The Canadians hit rock bottom when they lost to the Capitals 5-1 on 11/19. The did come back for a shootout victory verses the Thrashers last time out. They must now travel to face a Sabre team that has found themselves on the ice and has put together a nice win streak of 4-1 the last 5. During the recent success by the Sabres, they have outscored their opponents by more than one goal. Most recent stats on this atchup finds Buffalo goal percentage at an impressive 14.1% and goal save percentage at 91% while the opposite can be said for Montreal’s 7% and 86%. Buffalo is the better team tonight and we will lay this small spot. The Home Team in this series is 9-1 last 10 as well….

NHL play..

record: 11-7 +4.5 units

Philly -160 for 1 unit

Not a big fan of laying this much juice on the road but I just really like this spot for a well rested Flyers club who have only played 2 games this season,, and have been off since defeating the Devils 5-2 last Friday.. Toronto will be playing on back to back nights after losing in a shootout in Ottawa last night,, and also will be playing its 3rd game in 4 days.. I look for a fresh and very good Flyers team to pick up the road win here… goodluck..

Game #2 MLB Playoffs
San Diego Padres vs St. Louis Cardnials

Game 1 of the National League Division Series hinged in large part on the performances of the respective starters. Game 2 doesn’t figure to be much different.
That’s not necessarily good news for the Padres, who are in a 1-0 hole to the defending National League champions after an 8-5 victory by the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Tuesday.

For Thursday’s Game 2, the Cardinals have in Mark Mulder a second ace they traded three quality players to acquire last winter. The Padres have in Pedro Astacio a castoff from a poor pitching club they picked up in a waiver deal.

Losing Game 1 sets up a tall order for the Padres. Now that Game 1 is in the books, the Padres could use a little spark from their starter, because that matchup wound up being surprisingly lopsided Tuesday.

No question, the two starters for Thursday’s game came down different roads this year.

Mulder certainly didn’t disappoint. He posted his fifth consecutive 15-win season at 16-8 with a 3.64 ERA, and he finished strong by allowing two earned runs or fewer in 12 of his 14 starts after the All-Star break.

Meanwhile, when the Padres acquired Pedro Astacio in a trade with the Rangers in June after Texas had designated him for assignment, well, let’s just say starting Game 2 wasn’t in the picture yet.

But the way things have gone the last couple of months, the Padres don’t mind following up Peavy with Astacio, who has come a long way since the Rangers jettisoned him three months into the season.

The 35-year-old right-hander went 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in three September starts, that after going 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA in August. With that strong finish, Astacio earned the Game 2 start over former Cardinals right-hander Woody Williams, who will go in Game 3 in San Diego.

Here are some good #’s to have reason for a great pitching game and low amount of runs scored.

Play Under all teams where the total is 8.5-10 after 3 or more consecutive wins in October “Cards”. 64-24 Under since 1997.
Play Under all teams where the total is 8-8.5 after a game where the bullpen was hit hard “Cards”. 51-21 Under over last 3 seasons.
Astacio is 9-1 Under when playing against a team with a winning record this season.
Mulder is 15-4 Under when playing against a marginal winning team (Win Pct. 51%-54% Record)
Padres are 43-31 Under after a game where the bullpen gave up no runs this season.
Padres is 84-74 Under in all games this season.
Padres is 61-49 Under when the total is 7-8.5 this season.
Cards are 24-13 Under after having won 4 of their last 5 games this season.
Cards are 37-23 Under in home games after 2 straight games without a stolen base.
Cards are 67-50 Under after 2 or more cconsecutive wins over the last 2 seasons.
Cards are 30-19 Under when the total is 8-8.5 this season.
Umpire Bill Horn – this season Under is 19-13.

Reality of Handicapping Sports

Professional sports handicappers are a rare breed to say the least. Ninety
percent of their customers are gambling addicts who thrive on the action
of beting win or lose. Those players demand action every day forcing the
capper to give them marginal plays to keep their business. I am a
professional gambler with over 40 years experience in Sports Beting and I
know that playing a game just because it is on TV or because you are a fan
of that team is not the smartest thing to do. Cappers have to give the
betting public what they want and what they want is lots of action with
lots of HYPE regardless of how solid the play is. For instance I have
played five football games this season since preason began pro and college
I also won all five but if I were selling these plays my customers would
be raising hell wanting more action. Personally I don’t understand why
good cappers even fool with the public player.

Nebraska/KState Thoughts………..

Well here we are a week after allowing Baylor to put up 400 plus yards on
yet a record setting TD passing game the Huskers now must travel to
K-State. This game is almost impossible to cap in the fact that
Nebraska’s leading rusher Corey Ross has not practiced all week with a bad
case of turf toe and that K-States starting QB is questionable do to an
injury sustained in the Oklahoma game. Neither team has ruled out either
player but even if they play I have to question their effectivness.
Nebraska has a pretty good set of RB’s so they are probably least affected
if Ross does not play but then again how familar are they with the new
offense in real games???? Don’t be snowballed by the points Nebraska put
up last week as most of those came off short screen passes as Dailey still
is having trouble with any deep pass. With all that being said and
without going into the stats of both teams I look for this to be somewhat
of a defensive battle as both teams realize this is a huge step in winning
the BIG 12 North and although Nebraska did give up 400 yards to Baylor
last week I do not look for that kind of Blackshirt collapse again and see
this game being below the posted total of 54.5 points.

Will be playing the Under in this one as the side is just too hard with
all the injuries etc….

Good Luck.

Memorial day is about our lost loved ones. Its a day when we are supposed
to visit the Cemetary. Its about the people in all Wars that have gave us

other ones we might have LOST. It was a Holiday to visit the GRAVESITES.

Now get out there and show our kids what Memorial day is all about.

I was at the Cemetary Friday and you might think this is sick but it was a

Herd Plays

I do not believe these plays come from a service but I could be wrong.  These plays were provided this morning by Collin Herd of the Herd on 710 AM in Los Angeles. Dude claims he is hitting 65% of his games and rather than just give two or three he is giving all of his locks out over the radio this weekend.  (Sounding more and more like a serice).

Anyway, I have never heard his plays before and cannot vouch for him or his persentage.  I do think he is annoying but I’m a sports fan and there are only so many alternatives on the radio in the mnroning.  Nevertheless, he had some very sound evidence as to why he made these selections and w/o further ado they are as follows:

Oregon/Cal Under 60 He cited the fact that their would be bad weather conditions, 30mph winds, both teams would utilize the run and that one of the teams was using a new quarterback system that would consist of the bare bones offense set to control the clock and the game.  Prediction 24-20

Penn. State -11 He stated that Penn State had a good defense and a great defense at home. Additionally, he noted that Wisconsin hads a good offense but that Penn states O was averaging a yard more per play and had been playing much better in recent games. Prediction Penn State 34-17

N.C. State +13.5

UCLA -9 UCLA wins 33-10

V. Tech -6 Virginia Tech 27-13

Is vick out of the game already? hes one

of the biggest frauds in the game today.  The media has hyped him up to super star status, when if you take away his scrambling, hes a b rated qb, if not c.

did you ever notice, when hes having a bad day, he always gets hurt somehow, so he can get out of the game.

cant stand him and his brother.

Milwaukee vs. Washington. Milwaukee +7. 1 unit.

The Bucks have won both meetings with the Wiz this season and both are fighting for better playoff spots. The Wiz had a 5 game skid before beating Cleveland in thier last game. I see the Bucks keeping it very close if not winning this game outright, perhaps a small play on the moneyline as well.

good luck!

MLB record 3-2 (+.78 units)
Cleveland -130 (1.30 to win 1 unit)
Hate to go against such a hot team, especially at this price, but this is purely a pitching matchup play. Just looking at stats, Cleveland SP Jeremy Sowers isn’t having the greatest of starts to his MLB career. This guy is a great talent and will be the real deal eventually. He was a 6th overall pick out of Vanderbilt that has torn up the minors before being called up this year. On the other hand, Minnesota SP Baker is their 5th starter and a big dropoff from their front guys in the rotation.
Maybe just going on Sowers’ potential isn’t the best way to handicap, but sometimes just looking at numbers doesn’t give you winners either. Good luck.
